Koho (18th century) Japanese. This item is an original woodblock print measuring 8 3/4" x 13 3/4", with margins, 9 3/4" x 14 3/4. The condition is - no evidence of stains or matburn - never been framed - the paper has several small and faint creases (it needs to be pressed). It is attached to a thick paper backing at the top corners with a small spot of glue. The paper is somewhat thinner than the others, a fiber type paper, and when held to the light, faint horizontal and vertical lines are visible (similar to a watermark). Stamped in ink on the back of the backing paper is "Koho Early 18th". |
