Original Chikanobu (1838 - 1912) Japanese Woodblock print
Beauties on a Snowy Day
Series; Snow, Moon, Flowers

Beauties on a Snowy Day - Beautiful Chikanobu triptych of beauties enjoying a winter day. A woman sits on the edge of a porch at right holding a small girl in her arm, the child wearing a purple tie-dyed kimono and a red tam, reaching eagerly towards her sister. Two beauties share an umbrella in the center under the gently falling snow, smiling and chatting. One wears a pale green kimono patterned with maple leaves and splashing water, while her companion is dressed in a purple robe with cherry blossoms and tie-dyed clouds. Lovely detail in the landscape setting, with the snow-covered garden framing a lake, a wooden plank bridge crossing the water at left and pale pink buds on the plum tree in the center. A beautifully colored and shaded design that would make a lovely framed presentation.

Artist - Chikanobu (1838 - 1912)
Image Size - 13 7/8" x 27 1/4" + margins as shown
Condition - With excellent color and detail as shown. Three panels, not attached at the seams. Very slight rubbing. Please see photos for details.
