Offered for sale is a Japanese woodblock print by Kawase Hasui (1883-1957), titled Deer Strolling along Kasuga Shrine, Nara, from the series Shinto and its Architecture, 1936. It is from the estate of Robert O. Muller, the world renown collector and dealer of shin hanga school prints. It is illustrated at plate Hb-s7 of Kawase Hasui: The Complete Woodblock Prints by Kendall H. Brown. It was published by The Watanabe Color Print Co. The print is in very good condition, with extremely fresh colors. There is some thinning to the top reverse corners and a paper flaw in sky. The dimensions are approximately 6 7/8 x 4 1/2 inches, plus margins. |
