A beauty poles a boat across the pond carrying another woman and a young girl. Two beauties watch from the verandah at right, one leaning against the wooden pillar. An enormous full moon glows low in the sky, the rippling water shimmering with reflections. A narrow arched bridge in the distance leads to houses on the opposite shore, with stepping stones leading up the bank at left. Ornate lanterns decorated with beaded tassels hang from the eaves at right. A terrific subject with beautiful color and detail in the kimono fabrics, a striking garden setting, and fine bokashi shading in the water and sky. Includes embossing in the white collars. Artist - Chikanobu (1838 - 1912) Image Size - 27 5/8" x 13 1/2" + margins as shown Condition - With excellent color and detail. Three separate panels. Backed with old paper. Faint soiling in subject. Slightly curled. |
