Offered for sale is an original 20th century Japanese woodblock print by Kawase Hasui (1883-1957), titled Spring Rain at Benkei Bridge, 1936, from the series One Hundred Views of New Tokyo. It was published by The Watanabe Color Print Co. and bears a "C" type publisher's seal in the right margin. This image is illustrated at plate 386 of Kawase Hasui: The Complete Woodblock Prints by Brown and Watanabe.
The print is in very good condition, with no condition problems to note, aside from light toning. The colors are incredibly fresh and there are mica highlights in rain. The dimensions are approximately 12 1/2 x 8 3/4 inches, plus full margins.
