-First Edition - Japanese Orignal Woodblock Print -

Night Scene of Street Stall, ca1949

"Yomise" (Night Scene of Street Stall) by Takeji Asano (1900 - 1999). Original First Edition woodblock print dated Showa 24 (1949). Please notice title on print;" scene" is spelled "SCIENE" which is correct for first edition. Red Takeji seal lower right margin. English and Japanese title on bottom. Unsodo publisher's seal, Mori carver's seal, Sugimoto printer's seal in left margin and red artist's seal in left margin. Good ink bleed through. Excellent color, very good overall condition, some light toning and ceasing on the left bottom corner, stains on margin. Full margins, a rarely seen image, small smug below title as seen which is very typical of these prints this era. This print is difficult to find in marketplace.

SIZE : 10 and 1/4 x 15 and 1/2 inches.
Original woodblock print of "Night Sciene of Street Stall" (sic) by shin hanga artist Takeji Asano. Print is dated Showa 24 (1949). Oban size measures 10.3 x 15.5 inches. Fine color and impression. Very good condition. Left margin indicates print was published by Unsodo, carved by Mori and printed by Sugimoto. Good texture and ink bleedthrough.
