Condition: very good colour and condition. Some slight toning in the margins
Comments: very good impression. As an "artist's proof" it has no edition number on the back, and also lacks 'watanabe seal'

Shin Hanga: Artist's Proof

Artist: Shinsui
Format: Large Oban tate-e : 17" x 11" approx

Subject: Gifu Chuchin, (Gifu style paper lantern). A fashionable young bijin of the Showa era hanging a lantern decorated with Spring flowers, from the series Gendai bijinshu (First Series of Modern Beauties). Signed and sealed by the artist, with his red private 'Mihon' seal (bottom left) to indicate that it is a personal proof copy. Very rare.

Date: 1930

Condition: Full size. Some creases at bottom margin. Some light toning and water-spotting on reverse side. Generally very good state of preservation.

Colour: Fine

Impression: Very fine with extensive gauffrage.
