You are bidding on a very beautiful and special original Japanese woodblock print triptych Bijin-ga “Spring Outing” signed by the famous Meiji woodblock print master chikanobu Yoshu (1838-1912), made in December Meiji 28, which is 1895. This woodblock print triptych depicts Bijins outing for fun in the early spring while cherry starting to blossom. The three panels of this original triptych are separate. The size of each panel of this triptych is 14 3/4 x 10 inches. The artist’s signature is at the lower right corner of the right panel. The chop marks of the publisher’s name, address, and publication date are at the lower left corner of the left panel. The colors, which are vivid and vibrant, are in layers on the print. The triptych is not attached to any backing paper or cardboard and strong ink bleeding can be seen through the back of original Japanese Washi paper. Each panel of a triptych usually has two borders, and in this triptych all these borders are intact. This woodblock print triptych is in excellent condition.
