The artworks displayed on JAODB are not for sale

Notes (1st edition)It is interesting that this print has Nishimura Hodo's signature, yet it is pencil-signed H Saito in the bottom margin. This is even further evidence that Saito Hodo is none other than Nishimura Hodo. Further evidence this that both artists have very similar styles.

I researched this artist online and found out that H. Saito was a Western style watercolorist. This Japanese woodblock print is signed and sealed in lower left within the image and signed H. Saito in pencil on the lower right margin, it is dated in the left margin Showa 10 (1935), on the back of the print, lower left it is stamped with the publisher's information H. Takemura, 16" x 10 3/4", very strong colors, full margins, deckled edges, and never framed, not toned. This is a beautiful night scene in the rain with bokashi (gradation of color).
