Including the full and untrimmed margins, this 10 3/4" by 15 7/8" woodblock is titled, "Mt. Unzen seen from Amukus." Printed in 1937, this original woodblock is in excellent clean condition with strong, un-faded colors. There are no problems or any restorations. |
Guaranteed orginal Japanese woodblock print by the shin hanga artist Kawase Hasui. Subject: Mount Unsen From Amakusa. Date: 1937. Print bears the publisher Watanabe "C" seal which indicates that this is an early/original impression and not a later lifetime or posthumous edition. Oban design measures 10.5" x 16". Excellent color, impression, condition.

Hasui Kawase - "Unzen from Amakusa" - 1937
This work has never been reprinted in posthumous form, unlike many other important Hasui prints that have lesser valued reprinted copies, this particular print does not. Thus, making this a more scarce print to obtain then a majority of his popular images created after the great Kanto earthquake.
