Thursday, 22 November 2007 Original Japanese woodblock titled "Summer in Itako" by Kawase Hasui This woodblock print depicts a Japanese farmhouse in the village of Itako with a rainbow overhead. It is an undated and rare Hasui design, known to have been printed between 1945 and 1946. It was published by Watanabe Shozaburo. The margins were small on this design, and this print has not been trimmed. This print has been professionally restored to remove minor water-staining in the bottom part of the image. It is still a charming design in very good condition with strong colors. The size of this print is tanzaku, approximately 6.5 x 14.5 inches plus full margins. It will be shipped flat by certified Priority Mail, packed in thick cardboard & foamcore sheets to prevent bending. Please email me with any questions. Condition: Excellent color & impression. Print may be very slightly toned with some minor toning spots on the verso margin which don't show through. NOTE: A seldom seen design and unusual format. This is an original and early impression and NOT a later impression like most Hasui prints on Ebay. |
