You are bidding on an original Japanese woodblock prints “Shallow Spring” signed by the famous Taisho/Showa woodblock print master Shinsui Ito (1898-1974) made in Showa 25, which is 1950. The artist’s signature and his chop mark are close to the upper left corner of the print. The title of this woodblock print “Early Spring” is in the middle of the bottom border, in the right part of the bottom border is the Series name “Showa Bijin”, in the left of the bottom border is the writing “Painted by Ito Shinsui”. Four borders are intact. In the lower left border, it is the publisher’s name and publication date, March 11, Showa 25 (1950). The size of the print is about 10 1/2 inch x 15 inches. The colors, which are vivid and vibrant, are in layers on the print. This woodblock print is not attached to any backing paper or cardboard and ink bleeding can be seen through the back of the original Japanese Mulberry paper. Except for a minor horizontal crease at the middle of the print; and some minor foxing spots at the lower right corner and in the middle right border of the print, this woodblock print is in good condition.

Condition good … red color on the lip and the artist's seal bleeding, slight soil and creases, album backing, paper crack (3 inch long) from the right side of the bottom edge to the lower right area, blue ink specks on the middle left on the black fur, margins trimmed.
Description "Senshun" (Early Spring) Young lady with fur and blue cap. A rare newspaper insert.
Note The insert of Yomiuri Newspapers, limited edition of 150.
