You are bidding on a very beautiful and rare Japanese Shin Hanga woodblock print “Woman after Bath” by the famous Shin-Hanga artist Hashiguchi Goyo (1880-1921). The artist’s signature is close to the upper left edge of the print. The other mark at the lower left corner has partially faded. The size of this woodblock print is 9 1/2 x 13 1/2 inches. The colors, which are vivid and vibrant, are in layers. This woodblock print is not attached to any backing paper or cardboard and ink bleeding can be seen through the back of the original Japanese mulberry paper. All four borders are intact. Except for a minor diagonal wrinkle at the lower right corner in the border, which does not affect the images, this woodblock print is in excellent condition. I am not sure if this woodblock print is an original or later edition although it has been with us for a while and from the color of the paper, it shows some age.
