This is a wonderful small vintage signed woodblock painting by listed artist Kaoru Kawan, CANARY.Charming mod depiction of a young gal with a canary bird resting on her knee. The woodblock is about 7 inches tall by four and a half inches wide.I purchased it years ago at a military related estate sale.Altough not expert, I believe it is original as I can see and feel the paint or ink and I had purchased others by the same artist at that sale (which I have since sold and which were original).Due to the small size, and the fact that it is folded over I suspect it may be a card.
This is a Japanese Shin Hanga Color Woodblock Print, or Woodcut that depicts a young Girl with a Bird. Image Measures 4 3/8" x 6 3/8". Signed with Artist Seal. Condition is Very Good - no damage or fading. Print is attached to matte with 2 pieces of tape.
