| Notes (this edition) These notes were written by the original owner/seller/auctioner of the item and may be inaccurate.: | This is a Kaoru Kawano original signed woodblock. It is signed in pencil beneath the stamp on the block. The image is 10 1/8" x 14 7/8". The margins are 3/4" left, 1 1/8" right 5/8" top, 5/8" bottom. It is of a girl in a shell. The colors are tan and black and a pastel peach and light blue in a very pleasing color combination. It is in excellent condition. The print is not laid down. It is framed with a neutral matt. The frame is only in fair condition. The finished size is 16" x 21 1/4" |

Original blockprint by listed Japanese artist Kaoru Kawano (b. 1916 Otaru Hokkaido). GIRL / SHELL, circa 1960. Signed with the red Kawano seal in the lower right corner, the work is not signed in pencil, thus is from the unlimited edition. The print has been trimmed,but retains the black publisher's seal in the margin, verso (see image). Condition: Excellent color and very clean. Loosely taped with masking tape verso to mat along top margin, and trimmed, with the following margin sizes: Top, 3/8 inch; Sides, 3/8 inch; and Bottom, 5/8 inch. Unframed, the matted print will be shipped with archival quality mylar to protect the image. Image size is about 10 1/8 x 14 3/8 inches. |
