Notes (1st edition)Rafu by Yamamura Koka (Toyonari). Original woodblock print dated 1931. Large oban size measures 18.2 x 13.1 inches. Image size: 17 3/8 x 12 1/8 inches + margins Some examples contain the Takamizawa publisher's seal in the lower left corner. Dated 1931 in the lower right of printed area. Compare to image 117 on page 92 of the book "The female image, 20th century prints of Japanese beauties" Dealer description: Sensitive shin-hanga portrait of a beauty after a bath, her head buried in her arms as she sits on the floor. Her position conveys a sense of sadness or grief, her face hidden from the world as she rests her arms across her knees. An embossed red, yellow, and white checked sash is draped over her knees, the fringed ends trailing onto the floor. Beautifully drawn with flowing line work.

Thanks to a private collector for this example that is in fine condition. Rafu by Yamamura Koka (Toyonari). Original woodblock print dated 1931. Large oban size measures 18.2 x 13.1 inches. Fair condition. Lots of repairs. Soiled as shown. Center crease. Nice ink bleedthrough.
