The print is titled 'Ikegami Honmonji Temple 1931', with the Watanabe seal ( 6mm ) to the bottom left and Hasui signature seal to the right. Fine condition with no foxing or stains. Unframed………….. |

JAPANESE WOODBLOCK PRINT BY KAWASE HASUI. "The Temple at Ikegami in Tokyo" is a beautifully subtle color woodblock print of figures approaching the sacred place on a snowy evening. This print is by Kawase Hasui, a Japanese artist born 1883, died 1957. The image measures 14-3/8" x 9-1/2", on a sheet 15-3/8" x 10-3/8". It is matted with 2ply acid free board. Hasui's Japanese signature appears in the lower right. Watanabe publisher seal on the lower left. The title and "by Hasui" is written in English on the lower edge of the back of the print. It's in good condition, except for two small holes in the left margin. |
HASUI: GATEWAY TO HOMMONJI IN SNOW AN OTHER GREAT HASUI'S WORK . THE SIZE IS 15.5X10.25" with 0.6cm WATANABE SEAL. THE WOODBLOCK WAS PROFESSIONALLY REMOVED FROM A LAID-DOWN BOARD AND IN GOOD CONDITION. |
