Fuji in the Moonlight, Kawaibashi" ("Tsukiyo no Fuji, Kawabashi"), and was originally carved and printed in 1947. This is a later edition, printed directly off of Hasui's original blocks. Superbly executed "bokashi" shading; woodgrain visible in sky. Print is in excellent condition. This fine Hasui print is one of five images recently re-issued by Watanabe Publisher. Tsukiyo no Fuji (Kawai Bashi) Mt. Fuji in Moonlight from the Kawai Bridge by Kawase Hasui. Genuine woodblock print dated Showa 22 (1947). Later impression from original blocks. Oban size measures 15.4 x 10.2 inches. Fine condition. Never been framed. Title and date in left margin. Red Heisei era Watanabe seal in right margin. Good ink penetration. One of Hasui's most beautiful evening scenes.

This incredible image of Fuji in the moonlight behind the Kawai bridge is a Hasui masterwork. The rich blue tones of nighttime are a classic Hasui depiction. The beautiful old bridge leads to the lit houses over the river.
