Triptych: Preparations for the Dolls Festival

Format: Oban triptych: each sheet: 14" x 9.25"

Subject: Exquisitely dressed young women making preparations for the Dolls Festival.

Date: c. 1880's

Condition: Fine colors. Full size. Japanese album backing paper. Minor creases, marks and flaws. Generally fine state of preservation.

Impression: Fine impressions with gauffrage, lacquer and silcer pigment

Artist: Chikanobu
Format: Oban triptych: 14" x 27.5" overall

Subject: Against a yellow background two elegant bijin and a young boy in a General's helmet look admiringly at a model of Shoki the Demon Queller despatching a red-skinned devil. Other bijin writing poems, arranging Ikebana and holding festival models.

Date: c. 1880's

Condition: Slightly trimmed. Album backing paper. Left and centre sheet united. Vertical crease mark. Some light offsetting and soils. Minor creases, marks and flaws. Generally very good state.

Colour: Fine colors.

Impression: Fine impressions with gauffrage and burnishing.
