THIS PRINT IS AN ORIGINAL WOODBLOCK - NOT A REPRODUCTION OF A WOODBLOCK. THE ARTIST, KAORU KAWANO, 1916-1965, IS NOTED FOR HIS DECEPTIVELY SIMPLE PORTRAYALS OF HUMAN, FLORAL AND ANIMAL FORMS. THEY TYPICALLY FEATURE CONTRASTY COLORING AND WOODGRAIN EFFECTS FROM SPECIALLY VENEERED BLOCKS TO ENHANCE THE VISUAL IMAGE. THE PRINT HAS KAWANO'S SEAL IN RED. THE IMAGE SIZE IS 9 1/4" x 14 3/4". THE PRINT IS FRAMED IN BLACK WITH A GREY MATT. I DO NOT KNOW WHAT'S BEHIND THE MATT BUT THE VISIBLE IMAGE IS CLEAN, UNFADED AND UNSTAINED SO I'M CONFIDENT THE PRINT IS UNTRIMMED AND IS IN GOOD CONDITION.
Ducks by Kaoru Kawano. Genuine woodblock print. Oban size measuring 11.1 x 16.7 inches. Fine condition, impression and color. Red artist's seal in lower right corner of image. Pencil signed under seal. Well printed on soft thick washi with strong bleed through.
