Colors excellent - very good
Condition excellent - very good … upper margin slightly wavy, a piece of brown paper sticker on the lower back, pencil markings on the upper margin, a needle size hole on the upper left margin corner.
Description A pagoda is seen from Yanaka in Tokyo on a rainy day.
Note Provenance: Robert O. Muller Collection - "Made in Japan" stamped on verso, Watanabe copyright seal-D (1931-41).

This is a Japanese woodblock by print artist Shiro Kasamatsu (1896-1991) and published by Watanabe in 1932. This is an early edition. The print is 15 1/2" x 10 ", title of this print is Rain at Yanaka, Tokyo . This print is also known as Evening Rain, Yanaka Pagoda. It has a Watanabe 'C' seal in the lower right margin, and the artists signature and seal in the lower right corner of the image. The top margin has a deckled edge, toning on the back. Colors are strong. The Watanbe C seal was used from 1929-1942.
This is a beautiful early woodcut print by Shiro Kasamatsu. It is signed and has the 6mm Watanabe seal in the corner. It is approx. 16 x 11 inches and in great condition with minor toning.
