Format: Oban triptych: each sheet: 14" x 9.25"

Subject: A group of 5 lady firefighters and their commander on horseback at the scene of a fire. In the background other firefighters are silhouetted against the night sky by the flames of the fire. One of Chikanobu's masterpieces.

Date: 1892

Condition: Fine colors. Full size. Japanese album backing paper. Middle sheet with vertical centre fold. Minor marks and flaws. Generally very good state of preservation.

Impression: Fine impression.

Impression excellent - very good … embossed
Colors excellent - very good … lacquer-shomenzuri patterns on black kimono, orange color partially oxidized
Condition very good … right panel separated from the rest, slightly soiled, not backed. Left sheet: lower left corner creased, a vertical fold along the right edge. Middle sheet: a tear (1/4 inch long) from the bottom edge, a vertical fold along the left edge.
