This print was created by Kaoru Kawano (1916-1965) the great artist of sosaku-hanga. Most popular are his prints depicting owls. Here is one of them. “The Big Owl”, published and printed in 1950, print has a red Kawano seal. Signed in pencile Kaoru Kawano over black background. Number 7 printed on verso. This print belongs to artists best prints. With “gouffrage” (embossing) on a owl body. The size 17" by 11 1/4". Fine impression, excellent, fresh colors, bleedthrough and registration. Not trimmed or setdown.
Japanese Woodblock Print by Kaoru Kawano. 20th Century. Size is 16 5/8 x 11 1/4 inches. Very Good Color, Impression and Condition.
