I am selling this original Kiyoshi Saito woodblock print for my neighbor, who has had it for many years. I profess to know nothing about fine art, but I understand that this is an original Saito, and is one of a kind. The print itself measures 6" x 11", while the frame is 14' x 20'. The condition of the print itself is excellent.

Here's a pencil signed woodblock print by Kiyoshi Saito. Frame measures 10" x 15". It is print or paint signed "Kiyoshi Saito" on the picture and is pencil signed "HANIWA (1)" on the white border. Excellent condition

IT IS BY THE RENOWNED WOODBLOCK ARTIST KIYOSHI SAITO. HE MADE A SMALL SERIES OF PRINTS DEPICTING ANCIENT JAPANESE BURIAL POTTERY FIGURES CALLED HANIWA. THIS PRINT IS NUMBER 1 IN THAT SERIES. IT DATES FROM THE 1950'S. THESE PRINTS ARE PRIME EXAMPLES OF SAITO'S USE OF WOODBLOCKS SPECIALLY VENEERED TO IMPART STRONG WOODGRAIN EFFECTS. NEEDLESS TO SAY, THIS MADE THE PRINTING PROCESS MORE EXACTING. THE PRINT IS IN EXCELLENT CONDITION EXCEPT FOR A SLIGHT TONING AROUND THE IMAGE AREA. THERE ARE FRAMER'S SMALL PENCILLED NUMBERS ON THE MARGINS BUT THESE CAN BE ERASED. THE IMAGE SIZE IS 11 1/4" x 5 7/8". THE PAPER SIZE IS 15" x 9 1/2".
