DESCRIPTION: Carp jumping out of the pond under wisteria tree.

CONDITION: Very good impression, colour and condition. Vertical center-fold on center sheet. Retains Japanese album backing.

Format: Oban triptych: 14" x 28" overall

Subject: Three young bijin in their Spring finery watching the Carp in a large pond, one of which is leaping out. An ancient flowering Wisteria vine seen to the left. One of Chikanobu's most romantic triptychs.

Date: 1896

Condition: Very slightly trimmed. Album backing paper. Left and centre sheet united. A small nick at top left of centre sheet. Minor soils, marks and flaws. Generally very good state.
