KAWANO KAORU WOODBLOCK PRINT (1916-1965), SIZE IS (11 1/2" X 16 3/4") PRINT IS SIGNED IN PENCIL UNDER RIGHT OWL AND SEALED NEXT TO LOWER RIGHT, IT IS IN EXTRA FINE CONDITION, THERE IS TAP ON BACK ALONG TOP.

Charming Japanese woodblock print of two owls done by Kaoru Kawano. Ca. 1916- 1965. It has his pencil signature and a red seal. Condition slight toning to front and more on the back.Has the remains of masking tape on the back top .On top center margin paper is tore from where it was glued to matt. It would look very nice matted and framed.. Size: 11 3/8” x 16 ¾ “.

DESCRIPTION: No reserve on this modern woodblock print of owls dating from the mid 20th century by Japanese artist KAORU KAWANO.

MARKS: Artist chop in plate, mark on reverse (see photos).

CONDITION: Excellent condition with full margins and good bleed-through. No tears, creases, holes, stains or mellowing.

MEASUREMENTS: Paper measures 16 ½ X 11 3/8 in. Plate measures approx. 15 X 10 ¼.

A very rare woodcut by 'Sosaku Hanga' artist Kaoru Kawano, student of Kiyoshi Saito.

This original woodcut print is bright, unfaded and crisp with excellent colour qualities and detail in black, yellow and grey inks, The image size measuring approximately 10 x 15 ins. Within its period frame size of 19 x 23 ins. With backboard and original dust seal, under glass.
