You are bidding on a very beautiful original Japanese woodblock print "Tonekora River". Koitsu was a famous woodblock artist in the Taisho/Showa Era. The print size is 10 1/2 x 7 1/2 inches. The colors, which are vivid and vibrant, are in layers. The title of this woodblock print and the chop stamp of the artist’s signature are close to the lower right edge of the print. There is another chop seal at the lower left corner of the print. At the lower right corner of the back of the print, there some fading writing says “Woodblock print, Takemura Co….” Four borders are intact. This woodblock print is not attached to any backing paper or cardboard and ink bleeding can be seen through the back of print. Except for two very minor horizontal wrinkles across the sails due to the print’s age, which are not very visible, this woodblock print is in excellent condition.
JAPANESE WOODBLOCK KOITSU TSUCHIYA BOATS ON RIVER 04

This is a beautiful CHUBAN size print, in full sheet, by KOITSU Tsuchiya of Japan. It was published Takemura. I found an image of this print on www.koitsu.com, but research to this point has not established a date when this particular image was done. It is an EARLY and RARE PRINT. It has wonderful color and is in very good condition. There is a very slight matte line within the image to the top and right hand sides, which does not distract from the overall impact of the image.

Title: “Boats on River”

Size: Approximately 7 ¾” x 11”

Publisher: Takemura

Tosh Doi's print.
