Hasui Kawase
Japanese artist, 1883-1957. Hasui Kawase is one the great masters of the Shin Hanga movement. Shortly before his death, his art work was declared a Living National Treasure by the Japanese government. This is a vintage and original old color woodblock print.

A beautiful snow scene with figures and buildings.
1941 (lifetime edition).
Has Japanese writing in the image and in the left margin.
Has “Made In Japan” stamped on the verso.
Image measures 14 3/8 x 9 5/8 inches. Page measures 15 3/8 x 10 3/8 inches. Unframed.
Excellent condition. Right edge has one mis-trimmed spot. Crisp lines, great color, highly detailed carving.

Good impression, a small vertical crease at the lower left corner during printing; excellent color; a little creasing in sky, otherwise very good condition.
It should be noted that "Seal H", the so-called "gift seal", was occaisonally used by Watanabe for private publications, gift prints, artist proofs, and for prints of less than excellent quality.
