Description "Kusabue" (Flute made of a Plant Leaf). A girl is enjoying the sound out from a flute made of a long, thin plant leaf. The strong black outlines and dark colors were reminiscent to those of Georges Rouault. But Shuzo Ikeda's pictures had none of the serious religious connotations or sadness. The children in his pictures seem to involve in their innocent activities in the warm, dark and fuzzy dream in the past. |
Plant Leaf (????, kusabue). This is a simple musical instrument made from a grass or plant leaf.
