You are bidding on a Japanese woodblock print signed by Tsuchiya Koitsu (1870-1949). The print size is 15 1/4 x 7 3/4 inches. The colors, which are vivid and vibrant, are in layers. The chop stamp of the artist’s signature is at the lower right corner of the print. This woodblock print is not attached to backing paper or cardboard and strong ink bleeding is seen through the back of print. There are a couple of very minor stains and wrinkles in the borders due to the print’s age. However, they do not affect the image of the print at all.

An original unframed Japanese colour woodcut by Koitsu. This depicts a small bird (I think it's a warbler) on a branch with blossom. I have dated it to post 1940 to be safe, but it may well be slightly earlier.
Condition is problematic. The print has been laid down onto a backing card with double sided tape in the margins. There also seems to be the residue of some previous tape intruding into the image about half an inch in the left, right and lower edges. (I think this should all be clear from my photos.) There is some creasing, the worst of which is near the artist's seal and in the top left area.
The print itself does not appear to be laid down - colour is excellent
Size is 15.5 x 7.5 inches to the sheet edges.
A very nice unframed print which either needs some professional attention or an overmount to hide the problems at the edges.

Koitsu- Bush Warbler (Mitsugiri).jpg is:
"Bush Warbler" - 1932
Mitsugiri
Image size 15." x 7.5" Condition Pristine. Never laid down. Strong bleedthrough to verso. No folds, no tears, no creases, no foxing. Scan shows slight discoloration in margins. This does not appear in actual print.
Authenticated by Master Koitsui's signature, Doi Eiichi seal, watermark and the all-important double-offset Harada/Seki seal. Most prints seen in recent times carry the Hamano printer's seal, signifying a more recent print. This print carries the earlier Seki seal. Seki worked for Doi for 4 decades prior to 1993. We would estimate this print was struck circa 1980 or earlier, making it more rare than some current later-editions.
