Colors excellent - very good fine gradation for the mist, "baren" works to indicate the clouds and rains. Condition excellent - very good slight toning, a pin size hole on the left margin, a brown spot on the left margin edge. Description "Kinokunizaka Bai'u" Kinokunizaka Hill in the rainy season in June. Note Watanabe copyright seal-C for 1929-42. Provenance: Robert O. Muller Collection, "Made in Japan" stamped on verso. An early Watanabe edition, prewar, pristine condition, measures 10 1/4 by 15 1/4 inches, never having been matted or framed. Lovely detail in the bark on the tree doesn't show in my scans, very graceful and lovely print. Proper title is Pine Tree in Rain Kinokunizaka. |
