I found this rolled up in a cardboard tube as it came from Japan, so it has curl up issues. In perfect condition it measures 11 by 16 1/2 inches. Shiro lived a nice long life and his art changed over the years to this modernistic type of woodblock. Dated 1963 it is pencil numbered 162/200. Titled Ohara In Autumn.
Fine original vintage Japanese Modernist Wood block Print by SHIRO KASAMATSU (1898-1991). Signed by the artist L/L in the print and titled and dated under the image. Red chop, blind stamp and 77/100 D in pencil L/R. Size:Oban size: 11 1/4" x 17" including margins. Condition: Good condition: no tears or pin holes, unframed. Some browning to the border margins edges that would mat out and brownish tape residue to the top back. Note some variation to the brown in the upper portion of the print (see close shots). These appear to be due specific color registration shifts and do not carry through to the orange areas below. Nice vibrant colors to the print.
This beautiful Japanese wood cut print depicts what appears to be a small Japanese farming village. It is signed in the lower left hand corner Shiro Kasamatsu. It is entitled Ohara in Autumn and dated 1963. This is a limited edition, number 38/100. This is a very beautiful print and would be wonderful in any print collection. It is a full sheet.
