SCARED CRANE, color woodblock print, signed, from the numbered edition 200, sheet 9 ½ x 21", framed with glass, also signed on the artist's label.
This is an original modern Japanese woodblock print by Kaoru Kawano (1916-1965) titled "Sacred Crane D". The print is sealed in the image, pencil signed by the artist below the seal, titled in English and Kanji, and edition 31/200. This print is in very good condition. Fine impression, color and bleedthrough. Extensive use of silver mica throughout the image. No foxing, toning or folds. The print is not laid down or trimmed. There are several printing creases in the margins caused by the application of mica to the image. They do not affect the image. "Self-carved self-printed" tissue tag still attached to the verso. Image size is 9.5" x 22.5", paper size is 12" x 23.5".
