Bakufu, Ohno- The Cockerel- 1.jpg is:

Beautiful framed and matted watercolor of a rooster ? that dates back to the 1940's. Beautiful colors and signed but I cannot read the signature. Please email if you have more info. This could be a colored woodblock print instead of a watercolor. Looks like some fold marks that you can see in the pics but is not noticeable unless you are close. Overall size in the frame is 16 1/2" by 21".

You are bidding on a very beautiful and special FIRST-EDITION original Japanese woodblock Shin Hanga print “Cockerel” signed by the famous Taisho/Showa Shin Hanga woodblock print master Ohno Bakufu (1888-1976) published by Kyoto Hanga Printmaker and made in 1950s IN EXCELLENT CONDITION. The artist’s signature and his chop mark are at the lower left corner of the print. The KYOTO HANGA PRINTMAKER CHOP MARK and FIRS EDITION Chop mark, the carver and printer’s seals are in the lower left border. The size of this woodblock print is 16 x 11 inches. The colors, which are vivid and vibrant, are in layers. This woodblock print is not attached to any backing paper or cardboard and strong ink bleeding through can be seen through the back of the original Japanese mulberry Washi paper. All four borders are intact. Except for a little of foxing and a small spot of reinforcement at the back (lower right corner) and some minor and light frame trace at the edges, this woodblock print is in excellent condition.
You are bidding on a vintage Japanese woodblock print of Ohno Bakufu that was found in my father's house while I was cleaning it out. He was in Japan in the 1940s and 1960s. The print size is 11 1/4" x 16" with four borders (margins). The size of the mat is 15" x 20". The artist's signature is on the lower left corner. The publisher's name, publication date, and chop stamp of carver and printer is on the left border. The date Showa 28 is on the border of the print. You can see ink bleeding through the back of the print. This print has a scratch at the lower right part of the background; otherwise it is in excellent condition.
