Nanzenji Temple in Autumn, 1951
Kawase Hasui (1883 – 1957)

The beautiful temple structure with autumn colors after a rainfall. A small group passes through the temple gate, a stone lantern and the lovely gardens are just visible beyond. Wonderful example of ancient architecture and nature’s beauty.

Signed- Kawase Hasui with red artist’s seal “sui”
Sealed- Publisher Watanabe, 7mm seal, later edition original, from original blocks
Image size- 9 ½” x 14 3/8” (oban tate-e)
Condition- Excellent, no toning, tears, not mounted, full margins
Shigure no ato Kyoto Nanzenji (After a late autumn rain at the Nanzenji Temple in Kyoto) by Kawase Hasui. Genuine woodblock print dated Showa 26. Later impression from original blocks. Oban size measures 15.7 x 10.3 inches. Fine condition. Strong ink penetration on fine Hosho washi. 7mm round Watanabe seal in lower right of image. Heisei era red Watanabe seal in right margin. Title and date in left margin. Kawase- Nanzenji Temple in Autumn- 1.jpg is:

Condition "Pristine"-never laid down-full margins-no tears, no folds, no creases, no foxing, no stains-PERFECT! Good bleedthrough on verso (see scan). Complete with HASUI signature and Sui (see scan) and authenticated by Watanabe cartouche and seal.
