Description A rainy night at Omiya, a ward of Saitama city in Saitama Prefecture. .Hasui made only sixteen prints for the publisher Kawaguchi and Sakai. These handful works were considered among his finest works.
Note "Made in Japan" stamped on verso. Provenance: Robert O. Muller estate.

Rainy Omiya

Rain falls over the quiet night scene, two light glowing from the cottage windows in a classic Hasui touch. This evocative, peaceful view is a collector’s favorite. The wonderful atmospheric night scenes are among Hasui’s best work.

Signed- Kawase Hasui with red artist’s seal “sui”
Sealed- Publisher Kawaguchi, later edition original, from original blocks
Image size- 9 3/8” x 14 1/4” (oban tate-e)
Condition- Excellent, no toning, tears, not mounted, full margins

One of the 16 prints designed by Master HASUI for Kawaguchi and Sakai. The Kawaguchi and Sakai prints are considered by most experts to be among Master HASUI's finest works.
