Ame no Shimoda Fuji by Gihachiro Okuyama. Original woodblock print. Oban size measures 10.3 x 16.3 inches. Very good condition. A few spots in margins. Dark red Okuyama seal and brush signed Gihachiro in lower right of image. Hanken watermark in upper left margin. Title in left margin. Masuda carver's seal plus Sakakura printer's seal and also an Imura printer's seal in right margin. Nice early impression with clean key block lines.
This is an genuine original Japanese woodblock print by great shin-hanga artist Gihachiro Okuyama (1907-1981) titled "Town of Shimoda in the rain" (Ame no Shimoda Fuji). This print is from early the best Gihachiro Okuyama works, first edition published in 1949. One from the best rainy views. Very rare.The print is not trimmed, has full margins. Great impression, color and registration. Signed and sealed by artist in the image and titled in kanji at the margin. Carver Masuda, printers Sakakura and Inomura. Oban size 16 1/4" x 10 1/4". Paper slightly toned, four tiny pinholes on the top margin.
