This is a 9 1/4" x 14 1/4" woodblock print on paper by the Japanese painter and printmaker Kawase Hasui, 1883 - 1957. This image is Okayama Castle, 1928. Unframed. Fine condition. |

Image size 14.25" x 10" Condition "Pristine"-never laid down-full margins-no tears, no folds, no creases, no foxing, no stains-PERFECT! Good bleedthrough on verso. Complete with HASUI signature and Sui (see scan) and authenticated by Watanabe cartouche and seal. Master HASUI's captivating image in pastels is stunning in it's contrasts, and unique for it's pale beauty compared to other works. Viewing Okayama Castle through the mist over the river is almost ethereal in nature. Scan shows pink discoloration on margins..this DOES NOT appear on the actual print! This beautiful print is truly a delight! Our scan does not depict adequately the soft beauty of this print. |

This print has a beautiful shimmering feeling with the misty atmosphere and the choice of soft, pastel colors.
