Snowstorm at Mukojima
In a soft color palette of blues, grays and black, this wonderful design is a true Hasui masterpiece. The design with heavily loaded freight sampans tied up for the evening, a pair of boats on the water with passengers. This print was included in the groundbreaking 1936 Shin-hanga show at the Toledo Museum of Art.

Yuki no Mukojima by Kawase Hasui. Genuine woodblock print dated December Showa 6 (1931). Later impression from original blocks. Fine condition. Oban size measures 15.4 x 10.3 incehs. Strong ink penetration on fine Hosho Washi. 7mm Watanabe seal in lower left of image. Red Heisei era Watanabe seal in right margin.

You are bidding on an early edition of a woodblock print by Hasui, entitled Evening Snow at Mukojima. Very Good condition measuring 14 1/8 by 9 1/2 inches, plus full margins. It bears the Hasui's Sui Seal and the publisher seal, Watanabe C, authenticating that this is an early printing.
