Impression Very Fine. Superbly executed "bokashi" shading throughout; light "gauffrage" to buildings; life-like reflection; highly detailed carving.
Condition Nearly Excellent.
Excellent colors. Clean front and verso. (Very minor wrinkle right margin; light toning; slight wear.)

Comments Colorful red temple image. Bears appropriate "First Edition" seals.
This print has the Sui ? seal, I think, but it doesn't look like Hasui's signature. You will know more than I. The photo washes out the color a bit.

Guaranteed original Japanese woodblock print by the shin hanga artist Kawase Hasui. Subject: Tsushima Shrine. Date: 1948. Print bears the round 6mm Watanabe publisher seal which indicates that this is an original impression (post-war dated prints with this seal are early, original impressions). Excellent color & impression. Print has some tape residue on verso (see scan) which doesn't effect the design at all. Print measures 10.5" x 15.5".

Condition very good … a tear (1/3 inch long) on the upper margin, lower corners thin, thin areas on the left margin.
