Kawase Hasui (1883 - 1957)

A beautiful spring rain scene by the ancient castle walls, a woman in traditional clothing carries an umbrella against the downpour. This a favorite Castle scene among collectors of shin-hanga prints.

Signed- Kawase Hasui with red artist’s seal “sui”
Sealed- Publisher Watanabe, 7mm seal, later edition original, from original blocks
Image size- 9 ½” x 14 3/8” (oban tate-e)
Condition- Excellent, no toning, tears, not mounted, full margins
