I have for your bids a beautiful woodblock print of carp swimming among grass and waterlilies. I am definitely a novice at these things but comparing the signature to those in the book that I bought I believe it is by Ohno Bakufu. The difference is there is no English signature. I have shown a closeup of all marks on the print. It is vertical and 11 1/4" wide by 16" tall. The margins do not appear to be trimmed and there is some wear but not too bad. On the back someone has printed in pencil "Crucian Carp". The impression is sharp and I believe the grass could have been handpainted. The people I am selling this for visited Japan twice, once in the 1950's and once in the 1970's. |

Note: This is the recarved version of 1950s, not from the 1st 1938 edition. |
