These notes were written by the original owner/seller/auctioner of the item and may be inaccurate.: 		Kyoto Ohara Sanzenin by Kawase Hasui. Genuine woodblock print dated Showa 24 (1949). Later impression from original blocks. Fine condition. Oban size measures 15.7 x 10.4 incehs. Strong ink penetration on fine Hosho Washi. 7mm Watanabe seal in lower right of image. Red Heisei era Watanabe seal in right margin.

Condition "Pristine"-never laid down-full margins-no tears, no folds, no creases, no foxing, no stains-PERFECT! Good bleedthrough on verso (see scan).

Complete with HASUI signature and Sui (see scan) and authenticated by Watanabe cartouche. Scan shows slight discoloration in margins. This does not appear on the actual print.


This is, in my opinion, one of the finest examples of Master HASUI's color, graduation and blending that I have ever seen. Both the blues and the greens are deep, lush, and almost velvety in appearance. Our scan cannot capture the true beauty of this wonderful print.

A beautiful image of the Sanzenin Shrine at night in tones of green. A narrow path leads to a small building with a single light glowing. A classic, evocative Hasui night scene.

Condition- Excellent, no toning, tears, not mounted, full margins
