| Notes (this edition) These notes were written by the original owner/seller/auctioner of the item and may be inaccurate.: | Postcard size or yatsugiri Japanese woodblock print by Tsuchiyu Koitsu (1870-1949). I believe the title is Sarusawa Pond and probably dating from the 1940s. Unframed, attached at top margin to paper backing. Very good condition, some foxing, toning at the back of the print. 5 3/4 x 3 3/4 inches. |
About the original owners of this postcard: From Debra of SuitYourself: "Regarding the Crows (Ross - another unrelated print- but proves the owners were in Japan before the war), they bought the print back before the first World War." "I'm selling these for an elderly couple who have a summer home here on our island. They are in their late eighties and they have a rather eclectic group of woodblocks for me to list. The bulk of the collection is from the late 1920s through the 1950s. They are Koitsu fans, and also have some Shotei, Hasui, Hasegawa, and several old sewn woodblock print books from the early 1800's." |
