Dawn Moon of the Shinto Rites - Festival on a Hill
The Sanno festival is a tradition which combines elements of both Shintoism and Buddhism. It was (and is) celebrated in both Kyoto and Edo. Here, in Edo, a Shinto dancer stands atop a float in the festival parade.
