A colorful image of this rural nature scene with a lone fisherman on the bank of Lake Matsubara. This wonderful design is a nice departure from the city scenes and temples and showcases Hasui’s talent for capturing the beauty of the Japanese countryside.

Notes: First edition prints from the late 1930's and 1940's are seldom seen due to paper rationing at that time, and the fact that Watanabe had a dwindling number of foreign customers. As a result, he printed fewer examples. |
