Up for bid is a woodblock print by Tsuchiya Koitsu (1870-1949). Image area is is 15 114" X 10 1/14" (sheet 16 3/4" X 11"). After close examination, I would rate condition for its age as fair: age toning on image and margins with some foxing on upper right sky area. Medium to small foxing on margins. On back: tape residue on four corners, foxing and toning throughout. Good bleed through. No repairs or damage on image but some wrinkling on top margin and a minor crease on bottom margin.

This is a lovely vintage Japanese woodblock measuring 10 1/4" x 15 1/2" depicting a street scene with a pagoda in the background. Artist's signatures in margins. Image is larger than scanner bed, thus, not shown in entirety. Excellent condition.
Kyushu Hakozaki Hachiman Shrine by Tsuchiya Koitsu. Genuine woodblock print dated March Showa 13. Later post war impression. Fine condition. Oban size measures 16.8 x 11.4 inches. Never been framed. Still tipped inside original presentation folio. Nice texture and ink bleedthrough. Doi Hanga Ten publisher's seal, Yokoi printer's seal and Harada carver's seal in left margin.

Koitsu-Hakozaki Hachimangu Temple- Hangaten_Harada_Yokoi.jpg is:

Offered for sale is a Japanese woodblock print by Tsuchiya Koitsu (1870-1949), titled Hakozaki Hachimangu Temple, 1939. This design is an early Doi publication, as evidenced by the Harada/Yokoi carver/printer seals (Yokoi was only active as a printer through 1945).

This print is slightly faded and on the reverse it is lightly toned and there are tape stains across the entire perimeter of the margins, which are still a bit sticky, but do not affect the face of the print. It is not backed and there are no repairs. The image measures 15 ¼ by 10 ¼ inches, plus full margins.
