This is one of two old woodcuts or woodblocks we are listing here on eBay. This auction is for very pretty, old Japanese woodblock. It measures 16 1/4" by 11" including the little white border around the print. Not including the border, it measures 15 1/2" by 10 1/4". The scene depicts a pagoda, water, trees, rain, etc. No tears, rips, or creases. There is an assortment of writing on the left and right borders (the writing on the left side is in pencil). There is also a symbol and what appears to be a signature on the body of the print. All are shown in the photos. The print is attached at three corners to a board (like a heavy duty poster board for framing).

This auction is for one of two Japanese water color paintings I currently have on auction, both from the same old St. Louis estate. Both water color paintings are of the highest quality and were painted by a talented Japanese watercolorist. This is a beautiful vintage water color depicting a Japanese pond, surrounding gardens and Pagoda. The colors are bright and unfaded. Amazing detail in the weeping willow trees and landscape relfection in the pond. There is a maker's mark in the lower right corner. It is in excellent condition and has been framed in a wooden frame that resembles bamboo.
Outside frame dimensions are 18 3/4" T x 15 1/4" W x 5/8" deep.
Condition: It's in excellent condition and has been professionally framed under glass with one top mat. No stains, tears or other issues. |
