This problem is common to many Doi-published prints that use green inks. A classic example of this fading can be seen here. If the hues of the tree foliage in your print are a blue/aqua shade then your print suffers from fading. Someone wrote "by Hasui Kawase" on the backing of this woodblock but a kind eBayer told me that this is actually by Tsuchiya Koitsu and I did find it on the internet. It is titled Rain at Asakusa Kannon Temple and was published in 1933 by Doi Teiichi. It is the Oban edition. Image size is 14-1/2” x 9-1/2” and the complete size including margins is 15-1/4” x 10-1/2”. It was framed when I bought it and shows even, overall mild darkening due to age. It is attached at the very top right and left edges to the cardboard backing that you can see in one of my pictures. It is in very nice condition other than the mild darkening. |

Print measures 15 5/16" x 10 5/16", this is the size of the print and not the paper mounting. Print has a number of marks on the edge. The publisher is Doi Hangatan, the carver is Harada and the printer is Yokoi. The image is very good and the color is vibrant. The print is backed with carboard. It is 15 3/4" x 10 1/4" with large margins all around. |

The name of this print is "Rain at Asakusa Kannon Temple". It was made in 1936 for the publisher "Doi Hangaten" The print is in excellent condition. It looks to have full, uncut margins. The colors are clean, fresh and vibrant. The print is 15 ˝" long by 10 1/2" wide. The print is lightly tacked down in the upper and lower left hand corners. The print has a water mark witch looks like a circle with Japanese character in the center. There is not any damage on this print. |

It has no rips or tears. Nice early clean print that has a piece of old masking tape top center on the verso and a paper remnant in the left upper margin verso from an earlier mount. Hand made paper with no thins. A circled H watermark that is 9mm in diameter. The image measurements are 24.1cm x 36.3cm while the sheet is 26.6cm x 39.2cm |

Print lines are clear. Colors are deep and brilliant. The size is 10.5 x 15.5 inches including margins. There are no stains, foxing, tears, holes or creases. However, there are few smudges on the right edge of the print which look like ink smeared during printing. The title and date are on the right lower edge and the publisher, carver and printer seals can be seen on the left lower edge. The artist's seal is located on the left lower corner within the print . |

This lovely Japanese woodcut print is by Koitsu and depicts a fantastic red Temple… perhaps Nikko Shrine? It is beautifully framed. The consigner paid about $200 EACH for the framing alone. The consigner said that the prints were not laid down during the framing process. It has great color. |
