This is a lovely Japanese woodblock print by Koitsu. The print shows a temple at Nikko with stone lanterns in the foreground and a person climbing the many steps to the buildings - all surrounded by very large trees. The print measures about 15 5/8" x 10 3/4" and has been previously matted, as can be seen by the sloppy technique used to mount the print to the matting. The print will still frame up nicely and a good frame shop might be able to remove most of the residue . There doesn't appear to be any toning to indicate the previous matting and the print does have calligraphy on both vertical margins - the publisher's seal on the left side - and is otherwise in very nice condition with striking colors and no creases, tears or foxing.
